- Story Text: The Third Infantry Division of the U.S. Marines have
regrouped close to Karbala.
Communications teams and other soldiers stationed at an
unknown desert location close to Karbala, south west of
Baghdad have been regrouping over the past few days in order
to prepare for an assault on the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
On Wednesday (April 2) on the outskirts Karbala city
itself, 70 miles south of the capital, there was a further
sustained allied bombardment and US ground troops were engaged
in heavy fighting with the Medina Division of the Republican
Guard.
