- Story Text: Greek side AEK Athens mounted a spirited second half come-back scoring three goals to tie the scores 3-3 on aggregate against Inter of Bratislava. But they still lost their 2nd round YEFA cup tie to the Czech side in Athens on Wednesday (5 November) night.
By incessant attack AEK had hoped to erode the Czechoslovaks' lead but Inter's striker Novody scored an early surprise goal which was eventually to decide the match - latching onto a through ball from Zloch and shooting past AEK goalkeeper Sidiropoulos.
Inter still had their lead at half time when the game seemed over for AEK - now three goals down on aggregate - but an Inter defender handed soon after the interval and the Greek side's revival began. Tassos took the free kick just outside the area as the Czech defenders were still arguing about the decision. His shot caught Inter goalkeeper Sovaric unawares and AEK were level.
Tassos scored again from another dead ball kick - this time a penalty after an Inter player had handled- and the Greeks were back in competition.
Near the end the Czech concede another goal but by then they had held on long enough - and they go through to the third round despite losing 1-3. Thanks to Novody's away goal the 3-3 draw on aggregate was decided in Inter's favour.
