- Story Text: Motley Crue are hanging up their microphones. After more than three decades together, the group announced in Los Angeles on Tuesday (January 28) that they will embark on a final tour and then ultimately retire.
The quartet - Vince Neil, Mick Mars, Nikki Sixx, and Tommy Lee - will launch "The Final Tour," a more than 60-date concert series beginning in Grand Rapids on July 2 and wrapping in Vancouver on November 21.
"We want to go out with the four founding members of Motley Crue and go out on top and leave a legacy of a band called Motely Crue," said Neil, who provides the group's vocals.
"We decided to call this a final tour and sign a contract telling you this is real because we want to be proud of Motely Crue and we want our fans to be proud Motley Crue for decades to come," added bass player Sixx. Sixx said after the tour, everyone in the group will disband and focus on their own projects.
"I think all four of us are extremely creative guys. It's exciting for me. I support my brothers in what they do outside of Motley Crue, so it'll be cool to watch everybody do their own thing as well."
Motley Crue was founded in 1981 and have gone on to sell more than 80 million albums worldwide. Their hits include "Girls Girls Girls," "Home Sweet Home," and "Kickstart My Heart." - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
