- Story Text: Temperatures have reached a record low of -30 degrees Celsius in some parts of Poland on Saturday (January 21) in the coldest winter in years. Abundant snow has disrupted traffic, caused power outages and damaged heating systems.
In Warsaw, 265 snow plows took to the streets, but didn't manage to remove all the snow from the city center. Most intercity roads are open but traffic is restricted by snow banks.
Over 95 people have frozen to death since the beginning of winter in Poland.
Police and security forces patrolling the city streets are directing homeless to the nearest shelters. Some regions have started special hotlines for information about persons spending the night outdoors. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
