- Story Text: A Muslim delegation from Denmark arrived in Egypt on Sunday (December 4) to muster support for their campaign against a Danish newspaper. The paper, Jyllands-Posten, has sparked fury amongst some Muslims after publishing cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed. The delegation says the cartoons break laws and violate international resolutions. But the newspaper has refused to apologize, citing freedom of expression. Head of the delegation, Emam Mohammed El Khaled Samha, said those who had objected to what the newspaper did, had received threats. The Danish delegation is meeting with Egyptian officials before heading to Saudi Arabia to present the pictures to the Islam conference. One of the delegation, Ahmed Harby, said they'd been forced to take their objections on the road to the Arab world after the Danish Prime Minister refused to meet them to discuss the matter. "We have been talking to our ambassadors, eleven of those ambassadors want to talk to the Prime Minister but he refused to talk to them. He pushed us to go out of Denmark. Now we come to our people, our Muslim world. What is our goal here? Our goal is to stop this action, is to stop what they are doing," said Harby. Most Muslims disapprove of depiction of God, the Prophet Mohammed or other religious figure, saying such images encourage idolatry. Christian art, on the other hand, has been full of such images since earliest times.
