- Story Text: Rome has seen a bit of history in its past but it certainly doesn't lack enthusiasm for the latest historic event to cross its path - the wedding of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.
Whilst the wedding gown, designed by Italian designer Giorgio Armani, is believed to have arrived at their central Hotel Hassler on Tuesday morning (November 14) noone has seen even a glimpse of the two stars.
It was impossible to get a sneak preview of the dress either - the three garments were safely hidden in black covers with the words Prive (private) and Giorgio Armani written on the front as they were delivered to the door of the hotel.
Hundreds of onlookers gathered outside the hotel along with paparazzi and cameramen and a traffic policeman was called in to try and sort out the traffic chaos.
The Hollywood couple are tipped to have chosen a 15th century castle just outside of Rome as the location for the celebrity wedding but lets hope if they do stay here they won't use Isabella's room.
Legend has it in 1576 Isabella de Medici used a secret door to let her lovers into her private chamber at the castle. Those she grew bored with were sent hurtling to their deaths down a spiked well which she could open just to the other side of the secret opening. But things didn't end well for her when her husband discovered she had been unfaithful and she was strangled to death by his own hands. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
