- Story Text: German and Greek soccer fans were in good spirits in Gdansk on Friday (June 22) ahead of the Euro 2012 quarter-final meeting between their two countries.
The Germans go into the match as favourites on the back of 14 consecutive competitive victories stretching back to the 2010 World Cup.
Greece have never beaten Germany and now would be the ideal time to do so in order to cheer up the public back home and give them hope that Greece can repeat their amazing run to the European Championship crown in 2004.
The chances are slim to say the least with Germany having won all three matches in the toughest of the four groups while Greece are without their inspirational captain Giorgos Karagounis, suspended for picking up two yellow cards.
German fan Kai says that although Greece will be a difficult opponent he expects Joachim Loew's side to win.
"They are a tough opponent but I think the German team can still improve its performance. Their defense was very solid and I expect us to win with a clear 3-1," he said.
Greece fan Salbigidis sounded less confident about his country's chances.
"It is going to be a difficult match. I expect a lot of goals and I hope Greece will win, maybe. I am sure, Greece forward," he said. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
