- Story Text: American rockers Aerosmith arrived at Harrods in London in spectacular style yesterday to launch their forthcoming European tour at a press conference.
With the re-release of their hit 'Pink', it seemed only natural that the band turned up for the book and album signing session in a pink horse-drawn carriage before their tour around the London store.
Legendary rockers, Aerosmith, were in London yesterday to launch their European tour.
Arriving at the world famous Harrods store in a pink horse-drawn carriage, the band were taken on a tour by Harrods owner, Mohammed Al Fayed before facing the world's press.
In a world away from stage and body destruction, the boys then 'took tea' with Mr Fayed before signing books and albums.
Aerosmith are about to embark on a 28 day tour of Europe, playing in fourteen countries. In the middle of their "Nine Lives World tour", they will be performing at London's Wembley Stadium, with support from Lenny Kravitz, The Stereophonics, 3 Colours Red and The Black Crowes.
With their boundless amounts of energy, Aerosmith are still delighting audiences around the world. They can still pack eighty thousand capacity stadiums and put on quite a show to their adoring fans.
The band are riding high at the moment - earlier this year they achieved their first ever number one single with 'I Don't Want To Miss A Thing' from the Bruce Willis action adventure movie, "Armageddon".The song also won the Best Song From A Movie award at the recent MTV Movie Awards. Not bad for a band that have been going for twenty-five years! Aerosmith have had their fair share of ups and downs during their turbulent career - they have all battled serious drug and alcohol addictions - coming out of it with a new lease of life.Lead singer, Steven Tyler, was reunited with his daughter, successful actress Liv Tyler, who had spent her youth not knowing who her real father was.
The band are renowned for their live shows - their last tour - 'Get A Grip' - lasted a mind-blowing twenty months and guitarists Joe, Tom and Brad got through an amazing 96,450 guitar strings! But even after all these years, the boys still get a huge buzz when they first step out on stage.
Drummer Joey Kramer explained: "...there's really nothing quite like it, especially in front of eight thousand people and you play your first few songs where there's no stopping - we just hit them right away - and the first pause when the audience reacts and responds it's like sex.I can't think of anything else in my life that could ever take the place of that and that feeling."
Add to that their Boston nightclub Mama Kin, their video arcade game, a '"virtual music" CD Rom and their new band autobiography, entitled 'Walk This Way', Aerosmith are certainly not sitting back and taking it easy. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
