- Story Text: Six ambassadors from six Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states met French Foreign Minister Roland Dumas in Paris on Tuesday (March 12) to express their gratitude for France's assistance during the Gulf conflict.
The envoys - Saudi charge d'affaires Ali Manha, Bahraini Ambassador Abdel Buali, United Arab Emirates Ambassador Ali Mubarak al-Mansouri, Kuwaiti Ambassador Tarek Razzouki, Omani Ambassador Thumis Thaki, and Abdul al-Rahman al-Attiyah from Qatar - spoke with Dumas at his Quai d'Orsay ministry, and thanked him for helping to dispatch a strong force of ground and air troops as part of the anti-Iraqi coalition.
France, previously one of Baghdad's most important suppliers of military hardware, aligned itself firmly with the United States (US) and Britain in supporting United Nations (UN) resolutions calling for Iraq to withdraw from Kuwait. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
