- Story Text: Pop superstar Elton John has given a smashing performance of his timeless tunes at an ancient marble amphitheatre beneath the Acropolis in the Greek capital of Athens.
"I don't think I have ever played in such a beautiful setting before" Elton John told a packed audience as he sat down by his piano in the 2000 year-old Roman Herod Atticus amphitheatre in Athens.
The singer played a repertoir of hits from his 38 year career.
Tickets for this performance sold out in only four hours - a good indication of how popular Sir Elton still is.
But despite the fact that he was performing two days running, he didn't hang around to visit Athens - instead he shuttled in and out each night, staying at his luxurious villa in Nice. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
