- Story Text: Germany won its first in Word Cup title 1954 in Switzerland. This year the nation hopes for a repeat of this for the fourth time in their own country.
The latest animation 'Heroes 06' (Helden 06) by Kurts film is based on exactly those hopes - it anticipates the World Cup final in Berlin, with a winning German team of course.
But the Germans have to face an 'Allstar' team first, with the best players of the world like Ronaldinho, Zinedine Zidane and David Beckham.
The action is real, emotions are high on and off the pitch. Lego doubles of former German footballer and now expert Guenter Netzer, president of the FC Bayern Munich and head of the German World Cup organizing committee, Franz Beckenbauer, and former coach of FC Bayern Munich, Giovanni Trappatoni, comment the match.
The enthusiasm in the World Cup is being told with attention to details, and a precise description of the mood. Heart-stopping chances, a dramatic match and spectacular camera movements keep the audience fascinated.
'Heroes 06' was created by the media students Ingo Steidl, Martin Seibert, Florian Plag and Daniel Mueller. The team of students not only had to solve the problem of camera angles, drives, the lighting, the steerage of the motion control robots as well as animation issues, but also how to build the stadium, how to dress players, commentators and the audience as well as tactical issues of football.
With their first project in 2002, Steidl, Seibert and Plag made a names for themselves with films about football. Their debut film 'The heroes of Bern' (Die Helden von Bern). The news magazine 'Der Spiegel' called it 'one of the most wonderful films about football ever'. Plenty of news coverage paved the way to a release in more than 60 German cinemas and to international festivals.
