Summary:Just three years after the end of World War II, Berlin lay at the centre of a bitterly cold war and at the heart of one of the most amazing blockades. On June 26 1948, after Soviet authorities had closed all road and rail access to Berlin's Western sectors, British, American and French aircraft mounted the biggest air supply operation ever seen. For eleven months, the people of West Berlin were fed and supplied entirely by air.
