Summary:Moscow, 1948, and the death of one of Russia's most implacable politicians - Andrei Zhdanov, who was a close associate of Joseph (Josef) Stalin. Members of the Soviet Government were present at the funeral paying their last respects to one of the most powerful men in all Russia. Since World War II Zhadanov had been at the peak of his career, carrying out a policy of de-westernising all aspects of Russian culture.
