Pre-tournament they were 14-1, they were rank outsiders, despite bets of over 100,000 euros on them. We have got one bet that would win over a million euros should Germany go on and lift the trophy at the end, so two more games to go. But as of today we've had a 75,000 euro bet that Germany will knock out Spain tomorrow, which for a knock out price it's the biggest we've had for the whole tournament and everybody is getting on the German bandwagon, it's absolutely enormous sums of money. We were we expecting at this stage of the World Cup for things to quieten down, no more England participation, perhaps it was just going to be a choice between Brazil or Argentina, that's not the case, everyone is backing Germany, apart from me, and you'd be surprised how much money we've had." Industry wide well over a billion pounds has been placed which is absolutely fantastic. Considering how bad England were and how early they went out, the turnover has held out fantastically. I would have said, certainly in terms of the number of countries that have actually had bets with William Hill... I was talking our IT department...188 different countries, where the bets were placed from, even down to Christmas Island, there's one chap in the Christmas Islands! But, yeah, absolutely fantastic. It is a global phenomenon and it's not just about England, very exciting." PEOPLE WALKING BY WILLIAM HILL BETTING SHOP CLOSE UP OF WILLIAM HILL SIGN

- Story Text: Gamblers put their money on Germany winning the World Cup, with several large bets being placed on them knocking out Spain in this week's semi-final then go on and lift the trophy, a UK betting shop said on Tuesday (July 6).
Before the World Cup began, Germany were rank outsiders to win the tournament. Gamblers who placed a bet on Deutschland back in May were given odds of 14/1.
Fast-forward to the semi-final stages of the Cup, and Germany are favourites to win, with their odds shortened to just 15/8 at UK betting shop William Hill.
And as Germany prepare for the semi-final match on Wednesday (July 7) William Hill has cut their odds of eliminating Spain after heavy backing for Joachim Loew's side.
"As of today we've had a 75,000 euro bet that Germany will knock out Spain tomorrow, which for a knock out price it's the biggest we've had for the whole tournament and everybody is getting on the German bandwagon, it's absolutely enormous sums of money," he said.
"We were we expecting at this stage of the World Cup for things to quieten down, no more England participation, perhaps it was just going to be a choice between Brazil or Argentina, that's not the case, everyone is backing Germany and you'd be surprised how much money we've had," Adams said.
William Hill has Germany at 15/8, Spain 2/1, Holland at 11/5 and Uruguay trailing at 12/1.
The odds on the Germany versus Spain match are Germany 9/5 and Spain 13/10.
The World Cup has seen record betting across the world.
William Hill said it has taken bets from people in 188 different countries and despite the upset of big names being knocked out early, the gambling is still going hard and fast.
"We were billing it as being the biggest gambling event of all time and it hasn't really disappointed at all. Industry wide well over a billion pounds has been placed which is absolutely fantastic," said Adams.
"It is a global phenomenon and it's not just about England, very exciting," he said.
With massive wins and losses at stake, all eyes will be on the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Wednesday.
The gambler who placed a 80,000 euro bet on Germany to win way back when they were at 14/1, stands to win a massive 1,120,000 euros.
No such luck for anyone placing a bet on the Germans now.
