- Story Text: Italian actress Monica Bellucci arrived on the Lido island in Venice on Friday (September 2). The 46-year-old beauty, renowned for causing the hearts of male fans to beat faster, is in the canal city to promote her new movie "Un été brulant" ("That Summer") which screens in competition at this year's Venice film festival.
Bellucci plays Angèle, an actress who marries a younger man but sees their relationship threatened by infidelity and jealousy. "That Summer" opens with a scene in which Angele lies naked on a bed, but the provocative opening did not prevent a sizeable number of journalists booing the movie when the credits rolled at the end of a less-than-favourable press screening.
Bellucci told Reuters she had no problems getting naked in front of the camera because director Philippe Garrel made her feel protected.
"Philippe Garrel is someone who really protects his actors and takes good care of them. He is so present and available before and during the shooting, so you really feel protected as an actress."
The scene was shot only weeks after Bellucci gave birth to her second child, but she said she did not feel self conscious about having a post-pregnancy body.
"No, I never thought about that. My priority was that my baby was in good shape, then I thought about the film after. But actually, Garrel was very kind because he waited for me. We were supposed to shoot in March but then we shot in July instead because I was pregnant," she said.
After giving birth the actress says she was not doing any sports to quickly get back into shape for the nude scene "because I was breastfeeding every two hours on set."
Louis Garrel, the director's son, said working with his father on the film was not difficult at all.
"Even if it's strange to hear that, the relationship with my father was easier on the set then when we work together There is no hysteria between him and me when we work, because he has his own technique. He is very concentrated on the film he wants to do. I am also concentrated, so we try to do the best we can , so we are like looking in the same direction and there is no hysteria," he said.
In "That Summer", Paul meets painter Frédéric through a mutual friend. Paul and his girlfriend Elisabeth move in with the couple in their apartment in Rome, but the harmony between them is quickly shattered. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
