- Story Text: Hotel FM, Romania's entry for Eurovision 2011, still have to get through the competition semis, but if their new fan base in Duesseldorf's Romanian community has anything to do with it they will sing their way all the way to the top five.
The band will represent Romania with the song 'Change," with their British singer, David Bryan sure they have a fighting shot.
"We're going to go and do the best we can, we have chances, every country here has a chance," he told Reuters TV, "Just to do our job and enjoy ourselves, is the main thing," he added.
The band was formed in 2005 by British expatriate David Bryan (lead vocals) and his friends Gabriel Baruta (piano and backing vocals) and Alex Szuz (drums).
Hotel FM treated their Romanian audience to a gig in a pub in Duesseldorf.
Szuz is convinced that their energetic pop song will succeed because all members of the band have a powerful presence on stage, a point their audience agreed with.
"I particularly like the singer - don't be jealous. I think they are refreshing and their other two songs prove that they really have the voice, that they really can sing professionally and I wish them a lot of success and I hope they get into the top 5!" Marianna Wolf gushed.
"They are the best. I hope that they win!" another audience member, Florian Tajer added.
Bryan was born in Newton Aycliffe in north-east England and came to Romania in 2005 as a volunteer involved in the reconstruction of an orphanage. He ended up staying and now will represent his new home as a singer.
"This is probably the biggest competition in the world, isn't it. So it's like, well. I don't see why not . I don't see why people shouldn't watch it," Bryan said ahead of the first semis.
The song 'Change' was composed by Gabriel Baruta and lyrics were written by Gabriel Baruta and Alexandra Ivan. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
