Summary:On September 15 1950, UN forces, under the command of General Douglas MacArthur, launched a major offensive, landing amphibious units on Wolmi Island commanding the approaches to Inchon on the west coast near Seoul. This was followed up by US and South Korean marines stormed Inchon, bombed and shelled earlier but naval ships and aircraft.
