Schalke 04 can take a huge step towards qualification for the knockout stage of the Champions League if they can beat Arsenal in Gelsenkirchen on Tuesday (November 6).
The German team beat Arsenal 2-0 in London last month to top Group B with seven points, one ahead of their opponents.
Schalke lie second in the Bundesliga but trail leaders Bayern Munich by seven points after losing 3-2 at Hoffenheim on Saturday (November 3).
Coach Huub Stevens revealed he plans to shake up his team to keep it fresh, although denied it was as a direct response to their weekend defeat.
"I am with my mind with my team and we will wait and see. Which formation we will use, that is still a surprise, even for us," Stevens told journalists on Monday (November 5).
Schalke will not be at full strength due to injuries, defender Christoph Metzelder will not play while Kyriakos Papadopoulos is a doubt.
Midfielder Lewis Holtby has dismissed speculation linking him with a move to Arsenal. The 22-year-old Germany international, whose father is from Liverpool, praised Arsenal during the news conference.
"Well, they are a great team, Arsenal. They know how to play. When you see the first 15 minutes (first leg), how they put us under pressure we weren't there on the pitch in the first leg," he told journalists.
"Arsenal know what we can do and we know that Arsenal can play, it is going to be a tight, great game, and we got to be focused." - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
