  • Story Text: Intimate apparel and swimsuit designs from La Perla, Kristina T, Pin up Stars and Blumarine open Milan fashion week.
    Milan Fashion Week, featuring the 2005 spring-summer collections in hundreds of catwalk shows and presentations, kicked- off on Saturday (September 25).
    But instead of glamorous dresses, intimate apparel and swimsuits from the four big names, La Perla, Kristina T, Pin up Stars and Blumarine opened the show.
    Ironically, the only common denominator appeared to be a new-found sense of decorum. It seems the G-string is virtually condemned to extinction to be replaced by low-waisted undergarments.
    For La Perla, next year's collection was almost completely in black-and-white with the occasion gold cape and retro swimsuits with belts.
    Hawaiian fantasies were favoured by Pin up Stars and Blumarine; tops with tropical images and swimsuits covered with crystals and chains.
    Famous Italian glamour model Vanessa Kelly hit the catwalk at the end of the Pin ups show in a sparkling white wedding swimsuit with the words 'Just Married' written across the rear and a veil and crown of flowers on her head.
    Pastels were featured in the Kristina T designs, which, along with swimsuits and lingerie sets presented cashmere in soft tones. Fashion weekon October 3.
