- Story Text: The Syrian army said it found what it called a 'weapons factory' in the east Aleppo district of Hanano on Tuesday (December 6), where mortars and chemical materials were allegedly being used by rebel forces.
Syrian army engineers said they believed the chemical elements were put in mortars before being fired.
The army said in a statement two weeks ago it had, alongside its allies, taken full control over the Hanano housing district, which is on the northeast frontline of the eastern sector.
In the east Aleppo neighbourhood of al-Sakhour, the army said found a bombed field hospital equipped with six Turkish ambulances and a large amount of medicine.
Video showed damaged ambulances outside the building and boxes of medicines, clothing and equipment strewn inside.
Last week, Syrian state TV said the army and its allies had seized the key neighbourhood, citing a military source.
The rebels, who controlled large parts of eastern Aleppo for nearly five years, have lost around two thirds of their territory in the city over the past two weeks.
The government now appears closer to victory in the city than at any point since 2012, the year after rebels took up arms to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad in a war that has killed hundreds of thousands of people, made more than half of Syrians homeless and created the world's worst refugee crisis. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
