- Story Text:A massive photograph of Cuban leader Fidel Castro was unfurled over the Cuban National Library overlooking Havana's Revolution Square on Sunday (November 27) as the historic plaza prepares to host giant rallies in honour of the revolutionary figure who died on Friday (November 25).
Other than the giant photograph and a few workers setting the stage for the upcoming events, the historic square remained mostly subdued with only a handful of tourists snapping pictures of the square and the picture itself.
The plaza will hold a memorial service for Castro on Tuesday (November 30) which is expected to draw world leaders and foreign dignitaries.
Castro's remains were cremated, and his ashes will be taken around Cuba until a state funeral on December 4.
Havana has remained mostly quiet since his death at the age of 90.
The Cuban government has declared a nine-day period of mourning which started on Saturday (November 26). - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
