- Story Text: They met four years ago, but have spent much of their time separated by travel, so when Robert Hruska and Miloslava Hruskova were to wed, the Prague airport became the venue for them to unite forever.
The wedding on Friday (August 17) is the first ever wedding at the Prague Ruzyne Airport, and possibly the first in Europe. It came about as a result of a competition sponsored by airline Easy Jet, and the airport.
The Hruska's beat 120 competitors in the "Wedding at the Airport" competition, where couples had to state their reasons for wanting an airport wedding.
"We do like flying, always a flight. So, airport was a chance to get together, stay together. Because it was the place where we swap the suitcases and again we never saw each other for months. So that's why,"
groom Hruska said.
The couple from Pilsen met four years ago while working as teachers at a secondary school. Now Robert is a English translator and interpreter, while Miloslava is finance advisor. They share the same interest in travelling, sports and studying foreign languages and decided to marry about a year ago.
It was their fondness of travel and frequent separation that made the jury pick them as winners of the airport wedding competition, which includes a honeymoon.
Their wedding at North 2 Terminal at Prague Ruzyne grabbed the attention of many travellers and was quite unusual. But the Hruska couple really enjoy it.
"It is a lot of emotions. You can not describe it easily, you just have to live it out," Robert said.
"It is too much happening in one moment," his wife, Miloslava said after the ceremony.
And it seems the airport could become a possible hotspot for weddings.
"Already the wedding has motivated a number of people to ask about the possibility of having their wedding at the airport," Prague Airport spokesman Eva Krejci said.
The Hruska's are now off on their honeymoon, starting in Milan and continuing on to Paris and Barcelona before ending up in London. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
