- Story Text: Two Cambodians arrived at a court in capital Phnom Penh on Monday (November 21) after being charged with their alleged involvement in providing illegal surrogacy services.
Cambodian nurse Sambath Chariya and Commerce Ministry Official Pich Rithy were arrested last Friday (November 18) along with their Australian employer, Tammy Davis-Lee, local media reported.
The trio are the first to be charged over commercial surrogacy involvement in the country since a ban on the practice was instated in October.
Davis-Lee, the owner of the fertility clinic allegedly used to provide the services, was not with her two employees during questioning on Monday. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
