On the red carpet, actress Jessica Chastain said the premiere of the political thriller following President-elect Donald Trump's surprise win at the polls last week, was timely.
"It's a very strange week for me to be talking about this film. However, I think it's an important film that it's coming out now, it's incredibly timing," said the two-time Oscar nominee.
Chastain said the film was about female empowerment, and pointed to Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton as an example.
"Really smart people would criticize Hillary and say that she was over prepared for the first debate. I've never heard anyone say that about a man for any job," added Chastain.
Chastain plays Madeline Elizabeth Sloane, an iron-willed political strategist who is always a step ahead of her competition.
The film's director John Madden also spoke of the political aspects of the film.
"The film is more about actually the political process and particularly about the characters in the center of the story, that's played by Jessica Chastain and it's thrown up all kinds of unexpected parallels and resonances that we haven't foreseen and I think the moment that it finally is emerging into the light it's a pretty extraordinary moment for the film," said Madden.
