- Story Text: Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao arrived in Manila on Tuesday (November 8) winning his WBO welterweight title against Jessie Vargas.
The 37-year-old Philippine Senator, who went back to the ring after a brief retirement, dominated the 27 year-old American boxer in Las Vegas on Saturday (November 5) and received an emphatic unanimous victory.
Pacquiao arrived with Philippine National Police chief Ronald Dela Rosa at Manila's international airport and told journalists his plan to return to his Senatorial duties.
"I went back after the fight because there is still work at the office and I'm excited to get back to work. So boxing is done, set aside for now, and just focus on work," he said.
It was Pacquiao's first fight since winning a seat in the Senate in May. He previously served as congressman and is widely regarded as the world's best pound-for-pound fighter. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
