You're going to find out all her weaknesses and flaws through the eyes of the roasters tonight." JANE LYNCH TALKING WITH MEDIA (SOUNDBITE) (English) JANE LYNCH, ACTRESS, SAYING: "She's one of kind, she's been at this for a long time, she's been consistently funny, and even when she goes off to Hawaii for a while, and she comes back. Obviously she's been thinking and she's undergone some life and she wants to come back and tell the world through her hilarious and truthful lens how she feels about things. She's consistently honest and right out there with what she thinks and how she feels. 'Roseanne' blew all the records in terms of sitcoms and for that alone, she deserves to have this night." - Story Text: Roseanne Barr hit the red carpet as the latest subject of the Comedy Central roast series, which taped in Los Angeles on Saturday (August 4).
Gilbert Gottfried and "Roseanne" actor Michael Fishman were on hand to honor the comedienne at the roast. "Glee" star Jane Lynch served as Roast Master for the event.
"Roseanne needs to be roasted because we ran out of everyone else to roast," Gottfried quipped. "We called; we heard Screech from 'Saved by the Bell' doesn't want to show up. Alright, Roseanne."
"She's consistently honest and right out there with what she thinks and how she feels," Lynch said graciously. "'Roseanne' blew all the records in terms of sitcoms and for that alone, she deserves to have this night."
Barr, 59, won an Emmy for her sitcom "Roseanne," which portrayed a blue collar family from 1988 to 1997. She had sought a Green Party nomination to run for president, but lost out to Jill Stein.
"Every citizen should get out there and get involved, everyday, everybody," when asked how she felt about celebrities joining the political spectrum. "Get out there and get involved."
Barr is trying again with a potential Peace and Freedom candidacy to force the news media to focus on working-class Americans.
"I think it's a better fit for me, Peace and Freedom, but you know what all independent parties will find a way to work together and make things better for everybody," she said.
Past recipients of Comedy Central's roast treatment include Charlie Sheen, Joan Rivers, Pamela Anderson and Donald Trump. The "Comedy Central Roast of Roseanne" filmed August 4 at the Hollywood Palladium and will premiere on Comedy Central on August 12 at 10 p.m. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
