Not quite how I would have like it. But the Americans are probably... if they want it. It is difficult to decide. Because for me personally, both candidates are not the best solution. But you have to decide for the lesser evil." (SOUNDBITE) (German) ELECTION PARTY GUEST PHILLIP KOERNER, SAYING: "Well, I would have liked Hillary to win. But it looks like Trump is narrowly in the lead in the swing states. But as the presenters always say: too close to call. It can change any time, as soon as another election region has been counted." (SOUNDBITE) (German) ELECTION PARTY GUEST OLGA DRAGOLJUB, SAYING: "I think that Hillary is a good politician and a good person and Donald Trump is rather.... I don't know whether it was intended, but I don't think he is an able statesman." (SOUNDBITE) (German) ELECTION PARTY GUEST PHILLIP KOERNER, SAYING: "My train leaves at 6 back to Magdeburg, and I plan to stay here that long. It does not make sense to quit in the middle of it." - Story Text: U.S. Democrats and Republicans living in Germany gathered at the Aspen Institute (a non-profit organization for humanistic studies) in Berlin to watch the outcome of the nail-bitingly close U.S. presidential election.
Most swing states were too close to call but Republican candidate Donald Trump has exceeded expectations in results and partial results so far with bookmakers making him the overwhelming favourite to win the race.
At 6:00 local time (0500GMT), Trump was leading Democratic rival Hillary Clinton by 23 Electoral College votes, according to media reports. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
