The film sees the 54-year-old actor reprise his role in the sequel to the 2012 film "Jack Reacher" playing a former U.S. military officer turned fugitive, on a mission to uncover a conspiracy that has accused his colleague, Major Susan Turner, of espionage.
The director, Edward Zwick said people love to watch Tom playing an action star as he became famous for his action sequel, "Mission Impossible".
"I think the whole movie business has changed. I think that's the kind of movie studios want to make now more than the other. And he (Cruise) loves making movies for the public and I think at this moment I think that's one of the things public wants. And he likes making them."
Zwick worked with Cruise on the 2003 film "The Last Samurai", which earned four Oscar nominations.

I hope it's not another 13 years before we're making movie together," Cruise said.
Cruise added that he was happy with his 22nd visit to Japan, whose history he is particularly interested through playing in "The Last Samurai".
