- Story Text: Local law enforcement were on alert a day before Election Day in New York City on Monday (November 7).
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates airports, tunnels and bridges around New York City, continues high levels of patrol.
There was a very visible police presence in front of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, where Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton will spend election night.
"I think that she is the best qualified of the people that we have," said voter Karen Hall.
Increased police presence and news camera crews were also seen outside of Trump Tower, which is Republican rival Donald Trump's campaign headquarters. Trump will hold his election night rally at the nearby Hilton Hotel.
"At the end of the day it's a free country and we have the right to vote so people should exercise it no matter which way. Hopefully things go well and whoever wins, takes over and whoever doesn't win, concedes," said voter Alfonso Lugo.
The potential for violence related to the election has already darkened a rancorous presidential race between Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump, on top of the threat of computer hacking and fears that Russia or other state actors could spread political misinformation online or tamper with voting. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
