Acclaimed American photographer was in Mexico's San Miguel de Allende on Friday (October 28) for his new work to reflect which he feels shows how Donald Trump has inverted minds and caused hysteria.
New-York based Tunick took one of his signature photographs of scores of naked people in picturesque San Miguel de Allende in Central Mexico, but this time they will be upside-down.
Tunick told media the upside down nude models were inspired by Trump's rhetoric.
"With Trump running for president and all the hateful rhetoric that he has put forward against Mexicans, women and immigrants this is sort of as everything is odd, turned on its side and weird and unpleasant and hurtful. And we just want to reverse ourselves and get away from it. Maybe just stick our heads in the ground as ostriches until it is over," said the photographic artist.
About 20 people volunteered for the photo session, which required that participants be fit enough to stand on their heads.
Daniela Carrasco told Reuters her yoga practice helped prepare for the photo.
"I liked it very much. In fact, doing yoga helped me with being upside down and so it was just connecting with the space and in the company of colleagues," he said.
Others found holding position a little more difficult.
"They did not tell us we would be in an upside down position. It was a little difficult because the fitness levels of some did not help. But the interaction was excellent, fantastic," said participant, Fernando Alatorre.
Trump has stoked the ire of many in Mexico for his comments on immigration and pledges to build a border wall to be paid for by the United States' southern neighbour.
