- Story Text: Germany braced itself for severe storms on Friday afternoon (Novmeber 9) on the North Sea shore. In Cuxhaven, the ferry piers were closed because of the pending storm.
In Hamburg, Germany's largest port and second largest city, the fish market and other low-lying parts of the harbour area was under more than 3 metres of water in the early afternoon but the water was expected to recede by the evening.
Ferry service to several North Sea islands from mainland Germany was also stopped by the winds gusting up to 115 kilometres per hour. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
