- Story Text: UN Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) Goodwill Ambassador actress Nicole Kidman visited Kosovo's capital Pristina on Saturday (October 14) , where she met with UNMIK head Joachim Reucker, Kosovo officials and others. Nicole Kidman was appointed UNIFEM Goodwill Ambassador on January 26, 2006. Her mission is to support women in various regions of the world, helping them solve the problems they are facing.
During her visit she said: "I am here as goodwill ambassador to learn so that I can help your country at this time, this crucial, crucial time actually for its future and to meet people and to be able to hear the stories and basically educate myself and I suppose be a voice for you if you need it."
Goodwill ambassadors are appointed by a cross section of funds, agencies and programmes of the United Nations system. They are prominent personalities who have lent their names, talents and time to support UN programmes. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
