- Story Text: The music festival 'Rock am Ring' continues to claim its place as an important music festival with performances by 'Good Charlotte', 'Scissor Sisters' and 'Korn' on its last day, as the guitar player of 'Good Charlotte', Billy Martin, told Reuters. "There is so many festivals in Europe but for some reason it's always the one everyone seems to be talking about. It's a big rock festival and one that we always wanted to do."
About their new album, 'Good Morning Revival', they said that they were very pleased with the outcome: "... it's good representation of where we are at, and a reflection of where we are at as a band, musically. And it's kind of a new beginning for us, a new chapter for us. It's our first kind of adult records that we as grown men," said singer Joel Madden.
Much anticipated was the performance of the 'Scissor Sisters', one of the festival's head-liners. Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears said on Monday (June 4) he was so exhausted after being on the road for a year - he felt like collapsing. The singer, real name Jason Sellards, has been travelling around the globe promoting latest album Ta-Dah, but admits the busy schedule has taken its toll. "We are extremely, extremely fortunate with this record. It has been successful beyond ... I mean, I don't think we had tons of expectations but it was definitely beyond whatever expectation we might have had," he told Reuters at the music festival.
Veteran rock act 'Korn' told Reuters, how much fun it was to record their 'Unplugged' album. "It was a challenge, and it was really cool to see how the songs are stripped down to actually hear the melodies going on, the guitar parts, the bass parts, and how they all work together with the vocals. And that was really cool, and you can hear that,"he said.
'Korn' has settled on 'Untitled' as the name of its next album, due July 31 via Virgin. The 12-track set will be 'Korn'`s first without long-time drummer David Silveria, who is on hiatus from the band, and its second without founding guitarist Brian 'Head' Welch, who left in 2005 for religious reasons.
"The layers, the texture, it's very ambient, ... it's a head bones album... There's all kind of things going on. You have to listen to it a couple of times to get what's going on. And we are very proud of it, it's very cool," said Jonathan Davis, the singer for the band.
Maximo Park need very little introduction. Their debut album 'A Certain Trigger', full of their own self-styled indie, could hardly have been missed. The new single, "Books from Boxes" comes from their 'difficult second album' released this year.
"We had a fairly clear idea what we wanted to do. We wanted to do something a bit harder, a bit heavier, kind of show our influences. We know, we like sort of American soft-rock bands, love the 'Smashing pumpkins', bands that have a bit more of a bigger guitar sound. And we wanted to have this on our second album. And it just made a lot of sense for us to work with someone like that," said keyboard player Lukas Wooller.
