- Story Text: The German squad is in South Africa fighting for the World Cup title. And now they have an extra feel-good motivation. Their very own World Cup anthem.
The unofficial soundtrack, 'Torches in the wind' was put together by Tunisian-German rapper Bushido his fellow musician and Kay One.
Bushido is a personal friend of German midfielder Sami Khedira and gave him the song on his MP3 player to take with him as a bit of motivational support, now the song has caught on.
Khedira, asked about the song in Pretoria, said it had played in the changing room before the Australia game and was a sign of integration.
Bushido said he wrote the song because football was the one thing that still elicited a roller coaster of emotions in him and, despite Germany's second game defeat to Serbia he still thinks the boys can pull victory out of the hat.
"When the German team is playing I notice how excited I get and that was probably the reason for writing this song. Of course also the fact that Germany is going to become the world champions. I still think that. Even after the 0-1 loss against Serbia," Bushido said.
For now Bushido can only stay glued to the TV and hope that his friend and his team mates can fulfil his prophecy. That Germany will win the World Cup. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
