  • Story Text: Serbian teenager Novak Djokovic got a rousing reception from several hundred fans in Belgrade on Monday (April 2) after winning the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami and becoming the world number seven.
    The 19-year-old showed off a glass trophy which he won last year because he broke his new one on the way from the airport.
    "This is a trophy I won in the United States last year, there has been an accident with the one I won on Sunday. I dropped it at the airport and it cracked so a replacement is on the way. I was overwhelmed with excitement and the anxiety to display it here and I looked very clumsy in my own eyes when it happened," he said.
    Djokovic lifted his second title of the season without dropping a set and replaced Andre Agassi as the youngest winner in the Miami event's 23-year history after crushing Argentine Guillermo Canas in the final.
    He also praised Canas for a brave performance in the final and said his back-to-back wins over Roger Federer of Switzerland was likely to boost the confidence of other top players looking to depose the world number one.
    Federer was named Laureus World Sportsman of the Year for the third time in a row in Barcelona earlier on Monday after continuing his domination of men's tennis in 2006.
