- Story Text: Australian actress Cate Blanchett was among those honored at the Premiere Women in Hollywood dinner. The 13th annual event, which has grown in stature over the years, was held Wednesday night (September 20, 2006) in Beverly Hills. The evening recognizes women singled out by Premiere magazine for their achievements in the film and entertainment industry.
"Incredibly nerve-wracking, incredibly nerve-wracking," explained a radiant looking Cate Blanchett, "The best way to meet one's heroes or heroines is to work along side them. I've had the great fortune to work with a lot of women in the room. So, that makes me slightly less nervous. It's quite overwhelming."
Annette Bening, Sofia Coppola and Sally Field were also presented with the magazine's Icon Award. Coppola, who won an Academy Award for the film "Lost in Translation" said she was thrilled to be in the same company of so many talented performers.
"It's great to be part of the night where the groups come to acknowledge each other. I'm nervous and excited."
British actress Dame Judi Dench took time out to lament that with so many talented actresses, more roles are needed.
"I just hope there are more of them," Dench told Reuters. "There are not enough of them and too many of us."
