- Story Text: British designer Vivienne Westwood chose the car park of a department store to show her new collection Anglomania in London.
Vivienne Westwood's Anglomania show took place in London Monday (November 17) night in the unlikely location of the Selfridges car park.
Westwood, who sat in the front row with partner Andreas Kronthaler rather than fussing backstage, unveiled her spring/summer 2010 collection to her her most loyal customers.
Guests included Girls Aloud singer Nicola Roberts, Leah Wood, designer Sadie Frost, singer Little Boots and Florence Welch as well as Shingai Shoniwa of The Noisettes, and French Vogue editor-in-chief Carine Restoin, Julia Restoin-Roitfield.
The show was typical Anglomania fare; plenty of colour, plenty of humour and more than a hint of Westwood's political agenda, with Daisy Lowe one of the stars of the catwalk show, which previewed the new Anglomania spring/summer 2010 collection.
Westwood focused on tribal prints wrapped loosely in her trademark style, with some designs showing political messages of the dangers of climate change.
The standout piece was the last one - a burgundy taffeta ballgown topped with a Russian military cap.
The collection only received one preview in Istanbul earlier this month.
As if fashion, cocktails and celebrities were not enough, the store served up another surprise in the form of budding R&B singer, Dionne Bromfield, the 13-year-old god-daughter of Amy Winehouse, who performed two songs, 'Foolish Little Girl' and 'Mama Said'. Dionne wore a printed, sweetheart neckline, prom dress from the new Anglomania collection which she chose herself. "Her clothes are so different, you just can't find anything like it anywhere."
The collection will be available late December. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
