We immediately turned on all of our code triage, which is our external disaster forces. People reported to the emergency department, we were prepared with staff positions and nurses and prepared for patients. Since that time, we received 22 patients from the accident, bumps, bruises, some walking wounded, some lacerations and fractures as well. We've treated everybody, everybody's in stable condition. They have been connected with their family members if needed. We've had other family members calling in, trying to look for their loved ones. Dramatic pictures posted by commuters showed a train carriage that appeared to have smashed right through the station concourse, collapsing a section of the roof, scattering debris and wreckage and causing devastation.

"There were five lacerations, three fractures, and the rest were minor injuries of bumps, bruises, shortness of breath, chest pain," she said.
Hoboken lies on the west bank of the Hudson River across from New York City. Its station, one of the busiest in the metropolitan area, is used by many commuters traveling into Manhattan from New Jersey and further afield.
