- Story Text: As the British people are divided in their opinion on Charles and Camilla's wedding, a London portrait painter says she knows why the couple's bond is so strong and that the wedding is inevitable.
Since the news broke yesterday (February 10, 2005) of the upcoming wedding of Prince Charles with his long-standing companion Camilla Parker-Bowles on April 8, 2005, Britain has been divided into two camps: one camp strongly supports the Prince's decision whilst the other equally strongly opposes it.
Whilst the country is still digesting the announcement one day later, London portrait painter and author of "Love at First Sight" Suzie Malin, isn't surprised at all at the wedding. Malin, who developed a theory on why we love who we love says she knows why Charles and Camilla are so in tune. Malin, who is a portrait artist by trade, discovered through her work how certain facial features unconsciously stimulate us in choosing our partners.
Her theory actually began with a photo of Charles' nanny Mable Anderson that she mistook for a photo of Camilla as a young woman. Says Malin: "I saw a picture one day and it said who is this and it was Mable Anderson and I thought it was Camilla, I thought it was obviously Camilla as a young girl and I thought I knew who it was and I turned the picture around and it said Mable Anderson, Charles' nanny and I couldn't believe it."
Interested in the similarities that she had discovered, Malin began to research specific facial features in couples and soon began to see a picture emerging. Her research prompted her to divide what she believed to be typical relationship types into four categories. Malin believes that the category that Charles and Camilla fall into is one of the strongest types of love we can ever find - she named it 'prima copula' - or primal bond.
According to Malin, Camilla and Mable Anderson share the same facial features which is what Charles would have unconsciously connected with . He loved his nanny Mable Anderson who was with him during all the important moments of child bonding: "Mable and Camilla - their faces could be interchangeable pieces in the same jigsaw, they have the same-shaped head and jawline and in an actual fact what is important with this particular category is not particularly shape/proportion, they just have to have the look of and I do believe that Camilla really does have the look of Mable"
explains Malin.
Malin illustrates her theory further:
"You can see that Camilla has the same shaped head they're in the same mould, they have the same-shaped head and jawline, they have the same-shaped mouth, they turn down when they smile, very unusual in a woman, they have the same short eyelids, they have the same look, it's as though they're interchangeable pieces in the same jigsaw."
For Malin, Charles would have unconsciously recognized those features and hence been attracted to Camilla on a deep level.
"For Charles who is so isolated by royalty and by protocol to have someone that he could be so easy with is and I do believe that it (the wedding) was quite inevitable because primal love is so strong."
So where does this leave Charles' relationship with Diana? Malin explains that Charles and Diana had a 'harmonist relationship' which she says is essentially an aesthetic relationship. Malin says she believes Charles did love Diana but his bond with Camilla was and is stronger and that therefore the upcoming wedding was always inevitable.
"It would explain why the most glamorous woman in the world was not holding Charles' heart, she in fact did belong to one of the love categories, she in fact belonged to the harmonist category, which is an aesthetic love category and they have the same facial proportions, and you can see that there is a great similarity and I do believe that Charles loved her, the thing is that the category in which Camilla and Charles fall is prima copulism, and that is when the person looks like their first bond and in this case and in every case it's a very very strong love because everybody wants to get back to the primal love that they knew in the cradle."
So if Malin' theory is correct, there should be a long and happy marriage ahead for Charles and Camilla. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
