- Story Text: Billed as the Oscars of the music world, the MTV Europe Music Awards are set to take place in Stockholm this week.
Preparations are well underway and rehearsals have begun - and this year's host former Fugee Wyclef Jean has completed script negotiations in his own inimitable style, so get ready for the hottest, hippest music event of the year.
Top music talent is descending on Stockholm as the MTV Europe Music Awards draws nearer.
Even with less that 48 to go until show time, there was still time to fit in another top pop act to join the a-list performers that will delight the 9,000 strong crowd at The Globe.
"Today we are announcing a final act to add to our performer list, recently voted the sexiest band in the world, we are thrilled that All Saints will be joining the awards, completing the line-up of 12 performers. Just to remind you that All Saints will be joining our best ever line up, which included Madonna, U2, Backstreet Boys, Bomfunk MCs, Guano Apes, Jennifer Lopez, Moby, Ricky Martin, Robbie Williams with Kylie Minogue and Ronan Keating," Brent Hansen, President & Chief Executive, MTV Networks Europe says.
The audience, along with the million of fans who will tune in at home will be relieved to know that Robbie Williams will be performing, despite being declared unfit by his doctors.
"You may have heard reports that Robbie Williams has been unwell recently, there had been a lot of speculation in the press about Robbie, but I just want to definitely confirm that Robbie is coming to perform at the awards on Thursday, it's against the advice of his doctors, he has been diagnosed with both gastroenterisis and exhaustion, but he is insisting on going ahead with his performance because he doesn't want to let down his fans or MTV," says Hansen.
True to form, this years host, Wyclef Jean is enjoying the atmosphere in the run up to his big night.
"It's definitely an honour to be here, I would just like to say that I am the new president of the United States, at last a black man's President. But it is definitely nice out here, the hotel is nice, have you seen my view in the back, they gave be a real nice view the back, I didn't sleep all night, jetlag, I watched the boats, it's real pretty. MTV is treating me real good, the boss is definitely taking care of me, I am just having a good time, I met the Bomfunk MCs, they up here chilling, so I am having a good time. Actually, the good thing about this, my wife is a designer, Fuchia designs, I am from the ghetto I do my won publicity, you can pick up a clothes for 9.99, but basically everything that I am wearing is from my wife, one outfit though I got to wear from Giorgio Armani, Giorgio Armani laced me with the hottest outfit, I gotta be good to Giorgio Armarni, because when I couldn't afford Giorgio Armani, he used to give me free clothes, so I have got to support Giorgio.Whats up Giorgio, payback. But he gave me a real nice, I ain't going to tell you, you know my style baby, I am one of the slickest dresser the world, don't let me brag."
He has even managed to bring a few friends (and a rather large minder) along for the ride, including his brother and sister who make up the funky R&B duo, Melky Sedeck.
Viewers can count on a flamboyant performance from Wyclef during the ceremony, as he takes the opportunity to prove he is the ultimate showman. He also stands a chance to win an award himself - he's nominated for Best Hip Hop.
First up to rehearse were the Bomfunk MCs - the first ever Finnish act to perform at the awards, as well as being the first Finns to be nominated, they are up for two awards, Best Nordic Act and Best Newcomers. The duo shot to fame with "Freestyler" - the smash hit single that they will be performing on the night, backed by an impressive group of dancers.
"Usually you see dancers that are sexy, these guys are sexy but these are B-boys they are doing moves that nobody else does, everybody sees that they are talented and they do special routines, it's exciting to see them, I am sometimes like, what's going on there? It's so good."
The MTV Europe Music Awards will be shown live on MTV at 20:00 gmt on Thursday 16 November.
