As I said earlier, coming up to games and something that the squad prides itself on now is really focusing on ourselves. The opposition, you know we take due care and attention in detail in looking at them and their skills but at the end of the day we always look at our strengths, what we can do and how we play our best cricket. If we are focused on ourselves and our best cricket, that's going to give us the best chance of winning." BUTTLER AND ENGLAND TEAM MEDIA REPRESENTATIVE AT NEWS CONFERENCE (SOUNDBITE) (English) ENGLAND CAPTAIN JOS BUTTLER SAYING: "Yeah, it's another challenge of coming here, obviously we haven't really been here that long either so every day it will get easier in acclimitisation but you know we'll be better for that run out the other day, it was good in some tough conditions and a good shock to the system for the guys and to get ready. Obviously day-night matches should probably be a little bit easier but humidity is still going to be high so it's another challenge but one we are very focused on overcoming and looking forward to delivering a good game." MEDIA (SOUNDBITE) (English) ENGLAND CAPTAIN JOS BUTTLER, TALKING ABOUT FACING BANGLADESH AT 2015 WORLD CUP, SAYING: "Probably just regret for that day really. I think I probably got in the position where I could have won the game for England so that's disappointing but you know move on, that's a long time in the past now, things move fast in cricket so no real regrets or anything and we'll move on and look forward to this series. Bangladesh are a good side but so are we and we look forward to the competition." CAMERA CREWS (SOUNDBITE) (English) ENGLAND CAPTAIN JOS BUTTLER, WHEN ASKED WHO THE FAVOURITES ARE, SAYING: "Maybe Bangladesh, obviously very strong at home in their own conditions and you know look at recent successes they've had in the ODI series but we don't mind being underdogs at all, that's something that probably suits us." CAMERA CREWS (SOUNDBITE) (English) ENGLAND CAPTAIN JOS BUTTLER, TALKING ABOUT SECURITY IN BANGLADESH, SAYING: "It's quite eye opening, isn't it? It's quite something you hope will never, never have to see and something, yeah it's a shock to think it's sad that it has to be there but everything is in good order, obviously travel to and from the ground's been, I'm sure for the locals has been a bit frustrating being held up in traffic but great for us. But security has been great so far. I think the guys you know within the group, it probably hasn't even been mentioned which is fantastic for us to know that the guys are very settled and focused on playing cricket." - Story Text:England play Bangladesh in the first one-day international on Friday (October 7) in Dhaka and England captain Jos Buttler believes his side is different to the one that were knocked out of last year's World Cup by their hosts.
"It's not going to be easy, it's going to be a fantastic challenge for us and as a group this journey that the ODI side has been on in the last two years, it's a different side to the one that lost to Bangladesh in the World Cup in Australia," said Buttler on Thursday (October 6) at a news conference on the eve of the match.
"Conditions here are going to be tough. Coming up to games and something that the squad prides itself on now is really focusing on ourselves. The opposition, you know we take due care and attention in detail in looking at them and their skills but at the end of the day we always look at our strengths, what we can do and how we play our best cricket. If we are focused on ourselves and our best cricket, that's going to give us the best chance of winning," added Buttler, who is making his England captain debut.
England, who arrived in Bangladesh on September 30, have had little time to adjust to the country's hot and humid conditions. Buttler acknowledged the humidity will pose problems but it is a challenge they hope to overcome.
"It's another challenge of coming here, obviously we haven't really been here that long either so every day it will get easier in acclimitisation but you know we'll be better for that run out the other day, it was good in some tough conditions and a good shock to the system for the guys and to get ready. Obviously day-night matches should probably be a little bit easier but humidity is still going to be high so it's another challenge but one we are very focused on overcoming and looking forward to delivering a good game."
England's cricket tour opened under tight security on Tuesday (October 4) with a friendly match against an invitational side in Fatullah.
The England and Wales Cricket Board's security delegation deemed the country was safe for the five-week tour to proceed after concerns were raised following an attack by gunmen on a cafe in Dhaka which killed 22 people in July.
Buttler said that so far the security arrangements have been good and that the players are settled.
"It's quite something you hope will never, never have to see and something, yeah it's a shock to think it's sad that it has to be there but everything is in good order, obviously travel to and from the ground's been, I'm sure for the locals has been a bit frustrating being held up in traffic but great for us, but security has been great so far. I think the guys you know within the group, it probably hasn't even been mentioned which is fantastic for us to know that the guys are very settled and focused on playing cricket," said Buttler.
England's squad was weakened by the withdrawal of one-day captain Eoin Morgan and batsman Alex Hales due to security fears over the tour which comprises three-one day internationals and two test matches.
Muslim-majority Bangladesh faces what appears to be a growing threat of militant violence and has seen a string of incidents last year including the shooting of three foreigners, two of whom died.
Last year, Australia pulled out of their tour to Bangladesh over security concerns and did not compete in the under-19 World Cup hosted in the country for the same reasons. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
