- Story Text:Spanish police on Wednesday (October 5) said the Brazilian couple and their two children found dead in their home in Pioz, in the province of Guadalajara, Spain had been killed by a nephew of the family and there were no links to organised crime, as originally thought.
The nephew aged 20 was identified as Francois Patrick Nogueira Gouveira.
Police said there was an international arrest warrant for Francois Patrick Nogeira who had fled to Brazil on September 22, 48 hours after the bodies of Marcos Campos Nogueira, 30, Janaina Santos Americo, 30 and their two children aged four and one were found in plastic bags in their home in Pioz after neighbours had complained about an unusual smell coming from the house.
"We have no doubt as to who committed the crime, so for us the crime is resolved. Francois Patrick is in Brazil, it will be the Brazilian authorities who will now proceed with the detention, there is no possibility of extradition, as the lieutenant colonel said," Police Commander Reina who declined to provide his first name and who is in charge of the investigation said.
Police said the family had been killed about a month before the bodies were found and they were still working on the motive of the crime and were still investigating whether it could have been a crime of passion.
"The motive of the crime has not yet been determined. To give one reason or motive would be to make a statement that perhaps may not be true. We are working on that line (crime of passion) of investigation, yes we have information, and we are sure we will find the motive, but it is likely there is not only one reason. I personally think we cannot yet talk about a crime of passion," Reina said.
Police said the bodies of the two adults had been cut in half and placed in the plastic bags. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
