Summary:The meeting in Peking between Nikita Khrushchev and Chairman Mao Tse-tung, held in August 1958. It was nine years after Mao's China finally came into being and at a time when Peking and Moscow still shared the same ideology road. As a result of the meeting, Mr. Khrushchev suddenly withdrew from a scheduled summit meeting with world le aders at the UN, saying it would be useless without Mao's China taking part.
