- Title: PHILIPPINES: ENGINEER CLAIMS HE HAS INVENTED CAR THAT CAN RUN ON WATER.

- Summary: MANILA, PHILIPPINES JANUARY 2, 1986 ( REUTERS - MANUEL SILVA) GV & PAN Daniel Dingel driving car SV Daniel Dingel tinkering with car engine SVs Inside of car engine with Dingel explaining how the car runs on water (ENGLISH SOT) (2 shots) TRANSCRIPT: DINGEL (SEQ. THREE): "Well this water passes through the system and then it goes to the intake manifold. I think that the intake manifold into the internal combustion of the engine, it burns the water, not how to burn the water is the system, now this water when it reaches that point, the weight of the water becomes very light, and then it goes to the combustion chamber, burns the water. Now I was able to modify the piston and the piston ring, and the valves and the exhaust manifold of this engine. It runs 50 kilometre by one litre of water, and its need gasoline to start the engine. You need about 15 to 20 cc of gasoline to start the engine, and then the water takes over." SV Car being started SV Daniel Dingel speaking (SOT) DINGEL (SEQ. FOUR): "Well, the purpose is not to produce this in our country, the purpose of this is to invite all car manufacturers and then see for themselves, and then have them manufacture it because they are in a position to manufacture it, and then whatever money we get out from this invention we put up a foundation and this foundation will see it that we will help direct additional long range planning instead of a short planning direct to the people. The money we get the Filipino people will be a part of this invention." CC/BB

- Story Text: A Filipino automotive engineer, Daniel Dingel, on January 2 demonstrated a car which he claims can run on water. Dingel, 52, is a graduate of the Philippines Mapua Institute of Technology. He has spent years on various inventions and his latest, he says, will revolutionise the motor industry. He unveiled his new vehicle at his home in Paranaque. The car's most important asset was, he said, a conversion device that modified the carburettor enabling it to run on plain water. Dingel says he has been driving the car for three years on plain water, or occasionally sea-water, beer, coke or tea. The revolutionary car has taken him 16 years and some 80 destroyed engines to perfect, with the aid of funds from the Filipino Foundation. The Foundation was set up under the Dingel Development Corporation which is charged with dealing with any interested parties. Its goal is to generate funds to help the inventor realize his dreams, which also include an air-bleed fuel economizer to substitute the turbo, a power boosting muffler and a perpetual motion engine for space technology.
