- Story Text: Fashion editors from around the world and celebrities such as actress Sienna Miller were spotted on the front row of Matthew Williamson's show on Sunday (September 18) at London Fashion Week.
Williamson who is known for his use of colour and bold prints unveiled a range of luxury silk designs at a venue home to some of the best modern art from around the world, the Tate Modern.
But his new collection was inspired by model and now muse to Williamson, Dree Hemmingway.
''It was kind of a three month process, it kind of evolved over those months, and in the latter part of the process I was inspired by Dree Hemingway, who was modelled, I don't know if you noticed, she was in the show, she wore the second look, the rust jumpsuit, and I just really like her style and so she became quite important as an inspiration,'' said Williamson backstage.
Hemmingway took to the catwalk wearing a jumpsuit, having flown in from the United States to take part in the British designer's show.
Williamson's creations are favoured by celebrities and this season his use of texture included hand painted sequins, ostrich feathers and lace.
The Manchester born designer said his new collection had an oriental flavour to it.
''This collection was a Japanese blossom that was the first sort of print, that was turned into a ikat design and then it became more and more distorted with various other prints,'' he said.
The award winning designer also achieved a fashion first by showcasing the collection at the Tate Modern, never previously used for a fashion show.
Williamson's collaboration with Charlotte Olympia was also on display for all to see with models stepping out on to the catwalk wearing pumps and open-toe sandals with Perspex heels.
