- Story Text: Burkina Faso's Foreign Minister Djibrill Yipene Bassole fainted during press conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Thursday (May 9).
Bassole and Davutoglu appeared in front of the cameras after a bilateral meeting.
Turkey's Foreign Minister was speaking about research on a possible chemical substance found on the bodies of up to a dozen Syrians.
"Amongst the wounded people coming from Syria, there are between 10 and 12 whose condition must be taken more seriously, with proper analysis. Because of this, we are now conducting research and we will share the results with the public when we have some solid conclusions, and we will also advise related organisations," Davutoglu said.
Shortly afterwards Burkina Faso's Foreign Minister seemed to try to get Davutoglu's attention.
He then appears to sway and his shoulders slump, before knocking a podium over as he falls to the ground.
His Turkish counterpart was quick to assist his guest, as some of those who were gathered for the news conference also rush to his aid.
After sitting on a chair briefly, Bassole walked out of the room.
He was then taken to Ataturk Training & Research Hospital in Ankara. Turkey's state media, the Anadolu agency, is reporting on its website that sources close to the Burkina Faso delegation say he fainted due to influenza and fatigue. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
