- Story Text: Seoul's pre-Olympic entertainment programme was launched on May 8 with a multi-national show performed free in the main Olympic stadium. The organisers issued some 80,000 tickets for the event which was attended by more than fifty thousand people. There were complaints of poor ticket handling, and technical delays on the show meant it finished at midnight, an hour later than scheduled. But those present stayed in good humour for the event which starred Bob Hope, Brooke Shields and Julio Iglesias and a number of other international performers, including Soviet and Chinese dancing troupes. The audience was also treated to an appearance by the Seoul Olympic mascot 'Hodor'. The cost of the event was thought to exceed 2.1 million US dollars. Other similar shows are planned in the lead to the Olympics in September.
