- Story Text: Michael Douglas and his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones hit the links with their celebrity golfer friends for a charity hole-in-one shootout. On the driving range were the likes of Kurt Russell, Andy Garcia, Martin Sheen, Greg Kinnear, and Douglas' father Kirk, among others. The event raised $1 million (USD) for the Motion Picture & Television Fund -- and organization that aids actors who've fallen on hard times.
The charity golf event held in Palos Verdes on Sunday (July 8) benefits the Motion Picture & Television Fund.
Entering its third season, the event was founded by Michael Douglas and features top stars in the Motion Picture industry who compete in three person teams to raise money for the Motion Picture & Television Fund.
The Motion Picture & Television Fund began in 1921 as a "relief" fund for those in the film industry who had fallen on hard times. The organization now serves thousands of people each year by providing grants of assistance, child care and health care for actors. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
