  • Story Text: British star Liz Hurley and British singer Elton John were the hosts of honour for the Chopard Trophy ceremony on Saturday (May 20) at the Carlton hotel in Cannes.
    As the ceremony was going smoothly, Elton John suddenly insulted the press and cursed at reporters. However, he handed over the prize to a Canadian young talent Kevin Zegers and left the room furious before the ceremony was over.
    The Chopard Trophy honouring new talents in the international film industry was awarded to Canadian actor Kevin Zegers for his part in Transamerica by film director Duncan Tucker and Italian actress Jasmine Trinca who is one of the cast member of Nanni Moretti's new film "The Caiman" presented in the official competition.
    Chopard Trophy is one of the more eagerly anticipated events surrounding the Cannes Festival. The prize is a statuette composed of a strip of film in yellow gold produced in the workshops of Chopard's manufactory in Geneva.
    While the Chopard Trophy ceremony was over, Spanish actress Penelope Cruz unexpectedly showed up wearing a long blue dress and flaunted a splendid Chopard necklace set with diamonds.
    To celebrate the success of the two prize winners, numerous celebrities including Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi, heavy metal singer Marilyn Manson, burlesque model Dita von Teese, Paris Hilton, Czech top model Eva Herzigova and many others attended the "Kind of Magic" dinner party.
