- Story Text: Shortly after Friday (October 14) prayers, interim government forces suffer many wounded in fighting in Sirte with loyalists to the fallen leader Muammar Gaddafi.
The fighting which has been going on for several weeks has narrowed down in recent days to a few neighbourhoods, especially in one known as the 'Dollar Neighborhood'.
Government forces say they are being targeted by Gaddafi snipers and that is what is holding their attempts to control the whole city. The city, much of which is now destroyed, is the birthplace of Gaddafi and many of his supporters fled to it after his regime collapsed in August. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
